SUMMER PROJECTS AT HAWKINS

Some dos and don'ts

  1. We expect summer interns to maintain work hours as per the normal workers/managers in Hawkins. They have to maintain the same holidays and weekly offs as other employees. They will be entitled to 2 days of leave per month of work.
  2. The stipend is to cover all expenses including lunch, dinner and travel to place of work within the city. Intercity travel on work (if needed) will be borne by Hawkins and can be charged with adequate proof of travel. Any travel within a city will be borne by the intern. Any expenditure by the intern for which reimbursement is expected must be pre-cleared before incurring the expenditure.
  3. The intern is required to agree with the mentor on a written project brief before starting work. This will include the problem or opportunity, initial plan, data gathering scope, proposed activities, and scope for the final report. Any changes in scope during the project must be documented as an addendum to the original brief.
  4. The intern, whether working remotely or in-office, must spend at least one hour every week with the mentor to discuss progress and next steps.
  5. If an intern feels that the project is not progressing or is facing challenges and the mentor is unable to guide adequately, they should seek clarification from the Internal Consulting Group (ICG). The ICG will monitor progress and provide feedback to both the mentor and the intern.
  6. The intern must submit a daily report to the mentor as per the agreed format depending on the stage of the project. The stipend will be paid at ₹500 per day of work approved by the mentor. If the intern has not worked for 8 hours, no payment will be made for that day. Payments will typically be made monthly, if not weekly.
  7. The intern will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement as part of the internship. Any violation may result in termination of payments, escalation to the educational institute, and possible legal action by the Company.
  8. The project report will be considered Hawkins' intellectual property. For submission to educational institutes, certain portions may be redacted or data masked to maintain confidentiality.
  9. The intern must adhere to all ethical and professional guidelines applicable to Hawkins employees. Necessary written instructions and guidance will be provided.
  10. If the project is not completed to the satisfaction of the evaluation panel (comprising three members other than the mentor), no further payment will be made. If the project is completed well, an additional amount up to 100% of the stipend already paid may be awarded. The panel’s decision will be final.
  11. Interns who successfully complete the internship may be considered for full-time or part-time employment, subject to availability of vacancies. Students who have completed their studies may also apply and will be treated similarly.
  12. The ideal internship duration is 3 months (13 weeks), with a minimum requirement of 8 weeks. In certain cases, the duration may be extended, but this must be decided in advance.
